Easter

Why bother with Easter? What is there to celebrate?

Many consider the cross to be the most common religious symbol in the world. The cross was a common site in the early first century. The cross, a Roman implement of torture leading to death, was thought to be the worst way to die.

Jesus death on the cross has changed the world, for good and bad over time, based on an individual, or in some cases a nation’s, reaction to God sending Jesus to live and finally die on this earth... Read More...

Chaos!

Ever felt like this poor chap?
Meaningless! Meaningless! Utterly meaningless! Everything is meaningless. What does man gain from all his labour at which he toils under the sun?
I hated all the things I had toiled for under the sun, because I must leave them to the one who comes after me...”

Eggsactly right at Easter

Did you mess up in some way this week? Do you always get things right? Have you ever wished that you could re-wind the last few minutes, hours, weeks, months or years and start over again? If so you are an honest member of the human race; join the club.

Easter is a time when we are reminded that God wants things to change so that we CAN have a perfect trouble-free existence no longer burdened with regrets. Recognising that we cannot do this for ourselves God sent the only perfect One, Jesus, to battle the evil one on our behalf. The Good News of Easter time is that Jesus won that battle.

Easter is a time when we see just how incredible is the love and regard God has for each one of us. Easter is an opportunity to accept that love. The Bible has a lot to say on this subject but one verse I find comforting is in the Gospel John chapter 3 verses 16 and 17. Part of that reference says this about God: He didn't go to all the trouble of sending his Son merely to point an accusing finger, telling the world how bad it was. He came to help, to put the world right again.

What does Easter mean to you? Could it mean something more this year? In The Watering Hole we believe that paying attention to God and accepting what Jesus offered at Easter time all those years ago helps us get even more out of life now, increases our feeling of self-worth and gives us the hope of an eternal life worth having when there will be no more regrets and trouble.

Oh and Jesus is responsible for putting a smile on our face!
Happy Easter
