Hot Cross Buns

Did you eat any hot cross buns over the Easter weekend? If so this story about hot cross buns might make you smile and feel a little bit more special.

A boy comes home from school really upset because he had got a cross next to all his sums.  x  His mum gave him a big hug and said, “Don’t worry we all make mistakes. Crosses are not always a bad thing though. You know we also use a cross as a way of writing I love you. x So a cross can also mean love.

Also when people could not write their name they used to sign their letters with a cross.  x  And when adults have to vote for people to run the country and be in government; guess what they do? They put a cross on their ballot papers. x

When I am driving my car and I see a cross sign I know that very soon I am coming to a point in the road where there is a crossroads and I have to decide which direction to drive to get where I am going. x

I know another place I could find a cross. It is on treasure map. X marks the spot where the treasure is buried.” x

The little boy smiled and said, “I’ve got it. When we make mistakes Jesus says I love you and I want to write my name down for being part of His family. I vote for Jesus way and when I am at the crossroads in my life I will also remember that it is Jesus word that is a treasure to help me go the right way.

Xactly”, said the mum and that is why at Easter time we put crosses on our buns so that we won’t forget.

Over the weekend right across the world Christians have been celebrating the cross. Jesus did not stay on the cross. On Easter Sunday we celebrated that Jesus story of love ††† did not finish on the Good Friday with His death but continued with Him coming back to life to demonstrate that He is even more powerful than death. Maybe we should call it “Good Sunday”!
