Kayaking Club: Paddle to Redbridge

The Watering Hole Kayaking Club meets about once a month (times depend on the tides) to learn new skills and to paddle along the shores of Southampton Water. Starting at Eling Slipway we paddle round to Goatee Beach where we meet the non-kayakers in our group.

On June 21st several of us paddled up Southampton Water to the mouth of the Test River at Redbridge. Here there are four bridges: a rail bridge, two road bridge and a medieval bridge no longer in use as a thoroughfare but as place to look out over the reed beds and the nature reserve.

The video below is a short account of the paddle. It was filmed using a GoPro camera mounted on a kayak.

The Watering Hole Kayaking Club is open to anyone; though children do have to be accompanied by an adult. More details can be found here. The dates for the rest of the year are listed here

Even if you don’t kayak come along and enjoy the company on picnicking on shore – usually Goatee Beach, Eling.
