Pancakes, Fun and Games

Shrove Tuesday or Pancake Day

Shrove Tuesday is the day when most English speaking countries traditionally eat pancakes. This used to be a way of using up ingredients such as sugar, fat and milk prior to the start of 40 days of fasting and abstinence known as Lent. It is where the term Mardi Gras comes from; literally Fat Tuesday.

Pancake Party for All the Family

It was a time of fun and celebration. With this in mind, The Watering Hole has organised a Pancake Party on Sunday, February 19th between 4:00pm and 6:30pm in King Rufus Hall at Calmore Community Centre.

There will be pancake-themed games, a tossing challenge, and lots of pancakes and fillings to eat. The event is FREE but you are asked to bring along a topping/filling that is at least enough for four people to add to the toppings buffet. Also if you have a frying pan bringing that along will help.

Come and have a great evening out; try some new fillings or enjoy the more traditional toppings; join in the fun and games
