The Story: Meeting the Storyteller

As we arrive at chapter 24 of The Story we meet Jesus as a master storyteller. People just love stories and storytelling has been used for centuries to pass important information down through succeeding generations.

Why does Jesus use stories?

One psychologist, Dr Rutler says this about stories. “Stories are how we think. They are how we make meaning of life. Stories explain how things work, how we make decisions, how we justify our decisions, how we persuade others, how we understand our place in the world, create our identities and define and teach social values.”

If that is right then Jesus can achieve a lot by telling stories. Between now and the end of August we are going to be focussing on stories Jesus told.

I hope that as we do so you will start to grasp what makes Jesus tick and that in the process you will take on board some of His attitudes and thinking that in turn will shape who you are and the decisions you make.
