What’s the point…?

Why is it The Watering Hole exists? What is the point of us helping people live, love, learn and laugh? What motivates us to plan and do things day after day, month after month?

The answer, I hope, is found in  2 Corinthians 5:14,15,20. It says, “Christ’s love compels us……”, “Christ died for all…..”. When we know that we are loved, valued and supported it makes a difference to what we do, how we invest our time and talents and how we think about ourselves. Jesus died to restore our friendship with God, Jesus died so that there does not need to be a barrier between us and God.

The Watering Hole is trying to act as ambassadors for God, giving glimpses, no matter how imperfectly as to what life could be like if God were to be part of our everyday lives and decision making. Unfortunately we often get it wrong and at those times we need to ask for forgiveness.

John, one of the writers in the Bible wants the following for a dear friend of his:

“I pray for good fortune in everything you do, and for your good health—that your everyday affairs prosper, as well as your soul!” 3 John 1:2

What a lovely sentiment. It is one I echo for everyone associated with The Watering Hole. How can we become better ambassadors for God? How can we be more effective in the task that Jesus has given us in this community? How can we become a healthier church? These questions are the focus of our study together this coming week.
